DOWRY = Death Of Wedding Responsible You

Hi Readers,

We are living in times, where we are staying in the midst of social criminals! Unity in diversity! The crimes are such which are not only sponsored but also promoted by criminals and greedy minds in the name of tradition. A person, once a victim burns in violation of his dignity and sets out for the revenge. One such crime committed is the malpractice of Dowry in India.

India, a country which boasts of its colourful tradition and culture, is mired with heinous and malicious social practices which amount to destruction of human lives, particularly females. The practice of Dowry amounts to:
  • Female foeticide,
  • Domestic violence and
  • Merciless physical torture and cold blooded murder of newly wed brides, every day.

Shocking, right? But, did not we know this from a long time as it was taught to all of us in schools and shown in the Mass media? So, we ask, why a child who grows old to be a fine Man or Woman, keeps mum and becomes an accomplice to the crime of Dowry at the time of its own Marriage and of its relatives, friends and acquaintances? Does the child observes a contradiction in the content of texts and the social acts in his surroundings and therefore is confused. Absolutely not - no it cannot be! The practice of demanding a sum of money, property and favours as a prerequisite for the final acceptance of a Marriage proposal by the Groom's family must not look like a natural and well matured tradition, one will cherish and boast about! Does the concept of Marriage sounds like a endowment plan for the greedy and criminal minds? I fear not so!

Dowry started as a traditional practice of exchanging gifts and baubles as a mark of the formation of a new bond between two families. Then slowly, it was twisted and distorted to fulfil the ever increasing greed of the families. The balance turned against the Bride's family as after Marriage, the bride is supposed to stay with the Groom's family and therefore the quantity and importance of Dowry was skewed against them. Malicious reasoning were developed and embedded in the minds of the Society members. From then on, Dowry developed as Social Malpractice and a Poison for the Female generation.

So, you must be thinking, aah, this happens only to the uneducated and the folks at remote villages where people still believe in such stuff. I am very sorry, but the facts show a complete reversal in reality. The most horrendous and monstrous acts of bride's torture leading to murder and cases of domestic violence are registered against the folks who have the highest of degrees and the widest of education. The education imparted has failed to evoke an iota of human values and the courage to go against the malpractice of Dowry. Dowry is now one of the most widespread crime which dictates the atrocities on woman in particular.

Dowry in most parts of India is still discussed as a subject of boast and pride by the Groom's family (disgusting!) and at the same time as a subject of worry and fear by the Bride's family. I have been a part of many a conversations where I have heard the men of this generation, the generation which boasts of technological advancements and High education, discussing the the matter of Dowry with a laugh and were thrilled and enjoyed the prospects of getting various degrees of wealth from the alliances in discussion. I was horrified! I was in disgust! I was shocked! I almost choked! Is this the same India which plans to be a Super-power in 2020. I do not think so with this ideology and mindset.

When a beautiful and cute little baby is born, and then, it is revealed to the parents and the extended family that it is a princess, a goddess, who is born to them, the malpractices like Dowry existing in the society, they are in, turns this boon to a bane. Its a shame on such a society!

There are about 3000 marriages taking place every day in India and it increases to 15000 in the peak seasons depending upon the availability of resources and auspicious days all round the year. In India, the scale of celebration on the days of the Marriage takes higher priority than the Marriage itself. More emphasis is given on the festivities of the event than the event itself. I have visited many a Marriages, where I have seldom found the families involved including the bride and groom to be content, at ease and enjoying themselves. There is chaos, pomp and show everywhere. Snobby folks are heard complaining of the so called shortcomings in the arrangements. I have always felt that the Marriage as a event has been disarrayed and disfigured beyond the scope of enjoyment and as a event of fun and frolic. As the Marriage is projected as a show of pomp and stature of families involved which at most of the times is out of place and capacity, any matter related to it, such as Dowry, takes a bow in front of other things and the Bride's family has to budge.

One must wonder, if Dowry is such an awful practice then why do not the hot-shots and the people with minds in the right place, speaking up against it! Let me tell you why!! Its really simple. Lets suppose, a crime is committed. Now in the crime one's family members are involved, maybe one's own brother, a cousin, their parents. Do you think, one will be able to say anything in this matter now. One will keep quite and rather develop an ideology to feel comfortable after witnessing this crime. The event of Marriage happens in every family, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, blue collar or white collar folks. It is omnipresent. In this crime one's own are involved making it a very emotional and personal instance where one chooses to remain silent rather that uttering a single word in protest. Also Greed is Good, as Gekko Gordon has said. Who does not like money. Show me one! So the problem is very difficult to erase due to a full support from the Society members to let this crime continue with its fangs stretched out and sharp enough to continue killing more female foetus and brides in the future.

Taking Dowry as an example, I fear for the future of India and her daughters!

Say No To Dowry, Say it now!

Ekalavya Learned from a Distance!

Hi Readers!

I recall, one of the stories in the Epic of Mahabharata where a boy named Eklavya, a young prince of the Nishadha tribes, was mesmerized by the sight of the Pandava Brothers learning the skill of Archery. He felt a strong urge to learn and master the same. Alas his status and the situation could not allow him to be a part of the elite. What did he do? Eklavya learned from a Distance!

In this world, where humans are ranked and judged on the basis of a number of factors and basis, the most visible is the the educational credentials of a person. Be it a job, their social position, the proposal of Marriage, the question a Five year old child is asked about the education of its parents during the school entrance interview, or the prejudice of mental agility and knowledge one has, Education Credentials controls them all.

Each and every human being is not the same. They are not the same because of the follwing factors:
  • The era one was born,
  • the family in which one grew up,
  • the number of siblings one had,
  • the kind of social surroundings one had,
  • the number and kind of friends one made,
  • the opportunities of education and development of Skills one received.

Ones attitude towards life and conscience develops mostly from the above factors. (OFF Topic)

As everyone is different, there has to be equally numbered ways for doing things for obtaining the same results.

Distance education was started with the intention of catering to the demands of a wide class of aspirants of education who cannot be physically present for the same.

From the begining of the post independence Indian culture, the attitude towards the distance courses has pretty much changed.

The Pain Of Love

Hi Readers,

How r u? My friend Nobita is not fine!

He is inconsolable. He is in great pain! He is complaining of a pinching pain in the left side of his chest! I am worried for him. He is not telling me, how and why it is happening? He is requesting me to leave him alone for sometime. I do not want to, but I do leave him to his thoughts for sometime.

Next Morning:

I asked him, as he came out of his room, "Hey Nobita, what happened to you last night? You were not your usual self?"
He said, "Have you been in love?". I answered in negation. He then said that I cannot understand then.

Nobita had been in love!! Nobita was now heat-broken. His heart shattered of all the hopes of the future. The same future which he had woven in his mind with the loved one, he loved so much. The comforting feelings had now become the uncomfortable pain in his heart. His conscious confused. He has been questioning God, the almighty, why me? Why it was happening to him? Is there no love in his life? Is this the end of all the good things in life.

From the past few days when ever he sees a happy couple, he turns his face away in disgust. This heart-break has uprooted all the faith in love and life. I cannot see Nobita like this, so I confronted him. I asked him to talk to me in detail. Nobita then broke like a dam full of water!

I loved her! Yes I did. I did not expect this to happen. I expected too much. Shah!! It is true that love is blind. Mine was too. I thought that this is the end of the search of my soul-mate. I have been eluded by love for good till now but then I saw a glint of light a few months ago. I felt the warmth and comfort in her eyes. I heard the voice I wanted to hear all my life. I smelled the excitement in my brain whenever I used to be with her.

She was all I wanted as somebody to be my soul-mate. I could listen, her talk for eternity. I could do whatever needed to be done to be with her on her side. Her presence made me nervous for a second or two but from then on it gave the moment a special spark. My smile came out with more shyness when she was there. My eyelids fluttered like the butterfly when she was in front of my eyes.

She was a Goddess. She was plain and simple. She had the most beautiful smile in the whole world. The world smiled along with her. It shined bright when she was out in the sun and it was breezy when she walked lightly, her hair tangling and untangling in the wind. Her stare could disarm an army. Her poise and posture exuded confidence. Her aura touched all those around her. Her eyes big and bright, set all the things right. Her eyes calmed the seething mind. Her expressions expressed positivity and spread vibrations of liveliness all around.

But she loved someone else. And this is one of the darkest side of love. Love, by virtue of its enormous emotive power happens with one at a time. Love is one to one. Therefore I was to be moved behind the lines of Love Land where I had no rights. I was to be discarded to let me burn in pain and agony for the innocent crime of trespassing in the Love Land. I was an outcast. I have now to bear the brunt of the laws of Love Land.

Ah, the pain of Love!

3 Prayers to God

Hi Readers,

When I reach Chandanagar MMTS, the local train station -- near to which I live -- from my work-place, I touch the Yellow Station Name Board -- there is a black tar hand imprint there --and say three things to GOD.

1. Hey Almighty, thanks for gifting me this life. I am grateful.
2. I have lived and enjoyed this day to the full, and have not left any stone unturned and have put my full efforts to the best, therefore there are no regrets. I have been humble and polite to others.
3. I shake hands with Death as I do not fear it rather gather courage and zeal from it, and embrace you God as my Friend as there are matters and things which are beyond my control and understanding.

May the Almighty Bless you All!

GlassFish 3.2

Hi Java Enthusiasts,

I am including my notes on the release of GlassFish 3.2.
GlassFish 3.2 kicked off with a first Milestone:

  • Mostly about integrating some bug fixes and has no major new feature
  • Defining Virtualization Support and PaaS Enablement as the main two goals
  • Total of 8 milestones leading up to October 2011
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS)
    • This feature will provide a Java EE centric solution to cloud computing that enables a user to deploy a Java EE application to the cloud.
    • It's basically allowing GlassFish to be plugged into an existing virtualization infrastructure.
    • Offers a Java EE centric way of deploying and managing applications without deep understanding of cloud infrastructure.
    • PaaS feature
      • Is set of services that will be available within a single process or as a set or processes running on different machines or virtual machines communicating with a well defined set of interfaces.
      • It simplifies application deployment, application management and domain creation.
      • The user is obviated of the need to manage the system at the infrastructure (machines, networking, software, storage) level.
    • Architectural Components
      • Orchestrator -- provides the ability to deploy an application to the cloud. Responsible for Service Dependency Discovery, Service Provisioning, Service Association and Deployment .
      • Elasticity Manager -- responsible for providing elasticity to the deployed application, Metric collection, Scaling decisions and Action execution.
      • IaaS Management Service (IMS) -- provides an abstraction of the IaaS cloud to the GlassFish software.  This abstraction encapsulates various APIs that are available for managing cloulds.
      • Groups -- Machines are divided into groups.
      • Domains Manager -- responsible for automating the process of creating a domain within the cloud.
      • Domains Manager Data Store -- stores user store configuration, IaaS management service configuration information, per-user domain configuration information.
Have Fun!!
